Heavy package labels mandatory from 2025

New Heavy Package Label Requirements as of January 1, 2025

Due to legislation in Germany, new requirements for shipping heavy packages within Europe will take effect on January 1, 2025. Carriers will require a specific weight icon on packages weighing between 10 and 20 kg. A different icon will apply to packages heavier than 20 kg. Carriers will implement these rules across Europe.

Ensure correct weight to avoid delays
Incorrectly entering the weight or selecting the wrong weight category may result in delivery delays or surcharges.

Ensure accurate product weights in Master Data
You must ensure that the weight details of your products are correctly entered in the master data. You can verify the weight details in the Customer Portal under Products → Product Overview → Product Details. If the weight is incorrect, please inform your Account Coordinator so we can work with you to upload the correct information.

Why this new requirement?
Correctly applying these labels enhances the safety of both package couriers and recipients. It warns of additional weight and ensures that the package is handled with appropriate care and tools, reducing the risk of injury or damage.
